In response to the current situation of weak independent innovation capability, insufficient basic supporting capacity, low reliability of equipment operation, and unreasonable industrial structure in VOCs control in China, South China University of Technology, as the leading unit, has jointly established a national engineering laboratory for VOCs pollution control technology and equipment with multiple industry university research institutions to meet the needs of air composite pollution control and environmental protection industry upgrading and development.

National Engineering Research Center for Collaborative Control of Air Pollutants and Greenhouse Gases, Tsinghua University

Member units

Tsinghua University, in collaboration with domestic advantageous research institutions and leading enterprises in various industries, is jointly building a research platform for the collaborative control of air pollutants and greenhouse gases. This platform aims to address the issues of high intensity and total emissions of air pollutants in China, weak deep emission reduction technologies, and the achievement of carbon peak and carbon neutrality strategic goals. The platform focuses on the urgent need to improve the technological level of air pollutant and greenhouse gas control in industries such as steel, non-ferrous metals, building materials, petrochemicals, and electricity. It supports the research and development of technologies such as efficient capture of fine particulate matter, reduction and resource utilization of sulfur oxides/nitrogen oxides, reduction and resource utilization of heavy metals, control and resource utilization of volatile organic compounds, efficient carbon capture technology and resource utilization, integration and optimization of flue gas pollutants and greenhouse gas emission reduction processes, big data analysis of air pollutants, and carbon trading accounting.
